The BHVS membership is on free will and its members are fully independent. There are three categories of membership: founder-members, members, and honorary members. New members are admitted after an application to the BHVS Advisory Council, where the applicant states that he/she accepts the BHVS Statute and would voluntary work under its regulations.

Curently is a PhD researcher at the Institute of European Culture and History, UvA. Historian – his maxim is that everything in life is history. Interested in the field of social sciences, as well as, heraldry, vexillology, municipal emblems, local and regional development, and administrative territorial divisions and their history.

He has graduated the New Bulgarian University in Sofia. Associate professor at University of Plovdiv. Dr. Popov works in the field of the Medieval Archaeology. His researches and publications are focused on archaeology of arms, armour and war of the cold steel weaponry, heraldry, medieval castle, military and civil architecture of the Middle Ages. Author of the book Castle in Europe and Bulgaria during the Middle Ages, and over 30 publications (two of them on heraldry).

Lawyer. One of the founders and Vice President of the Macedonian Heraldry Society. Winner of the first prize for the design of the Order of Merit for Macedonia and Award for the design of the Order Ilinden 1903.





Retired toxicologist. Long-standing interests in the political, social and military aspects of history moved into the field of heraldry, especially  medieval armorials. Member, and former secretary, of Societas Heraldica Scandinavica, and also member of the Heraldry Society and of l'Academie Internationale d'Héraldique.

During 2012 he has received Arvid Berghmans heraldiska pris (the committee supervised by the Swedish Royal Library in Stockholm), and the Prix Dr. Walburga von Habsburg Douglas (Commission des Prix et Medailles de la Confederation Internationale de Genealogie et d'Heraldique) for his work on medieval armorials.
